MLK Young Changemakers is a series of conversations in recognition of Dr. King’s impact and the National Youth Day of Service, where local and national youth leaders will explore how environmental and food justice impact our lives and communities. MLK Young Changemakers: TL;DR focused on Dr. King’s vision as an educator and how it impacts our ability to live in community. We conversed with young advocates who honor Dr. King’s legacy by fighting against the spread of misinformation and promoting media literacy. We helped platform a generation passionate about a better future in a digital world, discussing strategies to determine fiction from #facts.

Peace, Love, And Power": And Why Not Death was an evening of theatre fueled by the love that fills and inspires artists of color. So often we dream of a world peace that would allow us to enjoy one another’s company fully and freely. But reality is hard and often makes us confront the fact that life is a beautiful struggle. With PLP, our artist Journeyed through stories of love and loss, and maybe even escaped into a world where love is given the power to shape the lives we want to live.

Apollo Teen Takeover: Reboot

Created by participants in the Apollo’s High School Internship Program, Apollo Teen Takeover is produced by the Apollo Young Producers, a collective of alumni from the Apollo Theater Academy who create and develop events to connect young artists to the Apollo Theater and provide a creative space for collaboration. Teen Takeover is a celebration of art created by New York City youth; performances and visual arts featured at this event were curated by teens for teens.

The Apollo’s Career Panel series provides a behind-the-scenes look at lesser-known careers in arts and entertainment and shines a spotlight on people of color working in creative industries. Beyond the Algorithm: New Voices in AR and AI delved into the world of Artificial Intelligence and Augmented reality. We gathered to share career strategies and highlight the critical role of mentorship in fostering a supportive environment for emerging tech’ leaders. Underrepresented voices bring with them new perspectives that challenge the status quo, contributing to a more inclusive and innovative technological landscape.

Peace, Love, and Power was an evening of theatre and poetry fueled by the love and pain that fills and inspires artists of color. As artists we are always in pursuit of joy, but there is often so much of the other parts of life that infiltrate and influence that journey. Peace, Love, and Power gave a space for my friends and I to tell our stories and let people in to the worlds in which we live.
